12-month Radio Campaign
In March, Mental Health America of Wisconsin in collaboration with the Charles E. Kubly Foundation began a 12-month radio campaign with Entercom Milwaukee called "Mental Health Matters." The project will include the following radio stations 103.7 KISS FM, 99.1WMYX and 1250 WSSP. Through messages of hope the campaign will raise awareness about mental health, reduce stigma and to let people know that help is available.
The project began with an online survey and focus group for listeners. The information that was gathered from the survey and focus group is being used to help develop messages. Currently, public service announcements are airing on all three radio stations. These public service announcements direct listeners to the radio station's web site for more information about mental health. Special web pages have been developed on each of the radio stations' web sites where listeners can go for more information about mental health. As the campaign continues to evolve messages will continue to change and build off of earlier messages; public service announcements will also begin to air on the radio stations' on-line streaming radio; and the mental health web pages will continue to be updated and will eventually include podcasts on various mental health topics.
