Mission & Vision

The Healthy Mind Connection, a collaborative effort between Mental Health America of Wisconsin (MHA) and the business community, provides educational tools and resources to help employers address mental health in the workplace.  The goal of this effort is to maximize productivity while containing health care costs.

Goals:

  • Provide access to the latest information, data and best practices related to mental health
and their financial and non-financial impact on the workplace.
  • Provide the tools and resources businesses need to make informed decisions and actively address mental health in the workplace.
  • Promote the benefits of a "mental health-friendly" organizational culture focused on prevention and early intervention.
  • Collaborate with existing organizations and establish new partnerships with businesses to increase awareness and reduce stigma.

Who makes up the Healthy Mind Connection?

  • Mental Health America of Wisconsin's (MHA) Community Outreach Coordinator manages the initiative.
  • A member of MHA Board of Directors serves as chairperson.
  • Representatives from the business community form the Business Advisory team and provide support and input on planning, programs and services.

How can I be involved?

Advisors participate in a variety of ways based on their areas of expertise and interests.  If you are an employer, manager/supervisor, or human resources professional, contact us to see how you can be involved!

  • Participate in annual planning.
  • Provide input on current topics and business needs and feedback on programs and services.
  • Participate in focus groups, brainstorming sessions or on a planning committee.
  • Act as an advocate by promoting the initiative in your workplace.
  • Assist in identifying resources (i.e. grants/foundations, company sponsorships and in-kind support).
What is the time commitment?

Advisors participate based on their availability.  Meetings are scheduled 6-8 times per year and are held from 8:00-9:30 a.m.  Most communication and work is done by e-mail.
