We Advocate

  • MHA provides public policy and systems level advocacy through its involvement with other state and local organizations such as the Wisconsin Council on Mental Health, the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force and Wisconsin United for Mental Health.

  • Provides critical leadership for mental health issues at the state and local level. MHA’s advocacy with the Department of Health Services and the Governor’s office contributed to the expansion of access to services in the 2013-2014 legislative session and to mental health services through the Affordable Care Act.

  • MHA promotes enhanced integration of mental health and primary care through avenues such as advocacy for a Child Psychiatry Access Line, participation in a planning retreat sponsored by the National Governor’s Association and engagement of health systems in improving suicide prevention practices.

  • MHA is a leading voice for suicide prevention locally and statewide.
