For all who companion the Bereaved including: Chaplains, Clergy, Coordinators of Bereavement Support, Counselors, Healthcare Providers, Hospice Staff, Nurses, Social Workers, Support Group Facilitators, Volunteers
This conference will review the vast range of online grief support that is available for children, teens, and adults with a specific focus on research around why and how individuals use the internet for illness and grief.
Participants will be given tools to open dialogues with clients about their current use of thanatechnology, identify the pros and cons of online grief support, and tips for assessing the value and safety of specific grief support websites, apps, and other online tools.
Conference Objectives
- Increase understanding of how to use technology and social media in practice.
- Identify two risks and two benefits for using online technology for grievers.
- Describe two tools to facilitate conversation with clients around online grief support.
