Supporting Parents. Promoting Wellness. Strengthening Families.

The Strong Families Healthy Homes (SFHH) program at Mental Health America of Wisconsin offers personalized case management services for parents and pregnant women facing mental health and/or substance use challenges. Our services are grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered care, designed to support each parent’s unique goals and empower them to lead healthier, more stable lives for themselves and their children.

SFHH helps parents gain the skills and support they need to manage their mental health, strengthen parenting strategies, and navigate challenges with confidence. We believe that when parents thrive, children and families do too.

As an approved ancillary provider for Milwaukee County’s Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) network, SFHH offers a wide range of recovery-oriented services that address both mental and physical health, with a strong focus on family well-being.

Our case management services include:

  • Individual Skill Development and Enhancement – Build parenting, communication, self-regulation, and problem-solving skills tailored to your personal and family goals.
  • Wellness Management and Recovery – Set and achieve mental health or substance use recovery goals, with support in managing stress, anger, and creating a Wellness Plan.
  • Individual and Family Psychoeducation – Learn more about your diagnosis, treatment options, and tools to manage your mental health or substance use challenges—individually or with family support.
  • Medication Management (Non-Prescribers) – Receive guidance on taking medications as prescribed, understanding side effects, and advocating for your needs during psychiatric care.
  • Physical Health Monitoring – Understand the connection between mental and physical health, and get support to manage both in a balanced, healthy way.
  • Parenting Education: This parenting class, grounded in the Jai Institute for Parenting philosophy by a certified Jai trained instructor, helps caregivers build deeper, more connected relationships with their children through conscious, compassionate, and emotionally attuned parenting practices. Participants learn to understand their own triggers, regulate emotions, and parent with empathy rather than control.

Each service is designed to meet families where they are—with respect, empathy, and a deep understanding of the challenges parents face when living with behavioral health conditions.
