Colleges are notoriously high-stress environments. The demands of academics, living with others in cramped quarters, and not practicing good health habits can all take their toll. 

Active Minds: Peer to peer student support and advocacy group on college campuses.The organization works to increase students' awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed. There are chapters at the following Wisconsin colleges: Carthage College (Kenosha) and in Milwaukee at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Marquette Universtiy and the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
 
NAMI on Campus: Student-run organizations that provide support, education, and advocacy. A program of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The JED Foundation: A national organization working to reduce emotional distress and prevent suicide among college students.
 
Half of Us: The JED Foundation's campaign with mtvU uses stories of students and high-profile artists to increase awareness about mental health problems and the importance of getting help.  View video stories, learn more about emotional disorders and support others by becoming an advocate.
 
Student Health or Counseling Centers: Most colleges and universities have a student health center or counseling center. Check to find out what type of mental health and/or alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) services your school provides.
